About This Event

God's Country Hunting Classic welcomes hunters and enthusiasts of all-ages to join a friendly competition of trophy hunting in God's Country.

God's Country Hunting Classic is a hunting contest for Whitetail, Axis, Blackbuck, Fallow and Oryx.

Our hunting classic rolled out September 1st and will end February 29, 2020. All hunters must register before harvesting by visiting Mumme's. All registered hunters are eligible to win only one category per animal harvested. Additional animals are eligible to qualify the hunter for other categories. All registered hunters must comply with the rules & regulations set forth by the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department, or in accordance with appropriate rules in which State the animal(s) is/are harvested.

Entry Fee

In-store or mailed Registration is $25.00 per adult hunter. Online Registration is $30.00 per adult hunter. Registered Youth entries must be 16 years of age or younger.

At the end of the contest, all hunters will be declared winners once all scoresheets and categories have been reviewed and finalized. An announcement will be made via website/social media that the contest has been finalized and awards will be presented at the Annual Mumme’s Wildlife Pachanga.

Registration

Registration may be completed in store, mailed or submitted online. In store or mailed registration is $25.00 per adult hunter (youth 16 & under are free). FAQ

Here is a list of answers to frequently asked questions about God's Country Hunting Classic.

  1. In-store or mailed Registration is $25.00 per adult hunter (youth 16 & under is free).
    • Online Registration is $30.00 per adult hunter.
    • Registered Youth entries must be 16 years of age or younger.
  2. Registration:
    • All participants in Whitetail Deer categories must register for the God’s Country Hunting Contest BEFORE harvesting their animal in order to be eligible for the contest.
    • Absolutely NO EXCEPTIONS!
    • Participants in Exotic categories may register before harvesting their animal at regular fee.
    • Participants in Exotic categories may register after harvesting but prior to scoring of their animal at $50.00 per entry.
  1. A hunter is considered registered for the God’s Country Hunting Deer Contest at the exact time that payment is received online, in person, or when mail is received.
  2. All registered hunters are eligible to win only one category per animal harvested. Additional animals are eligible to qualify the hunter for other categories. Desired category must be declared at time of scoring.
  3. All registered hunters must comply with the rules & regulations set forth by the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department, or in accordance with appropriate rules in which State the animal(s) is/are harvested.
  4. A hunter must have a valid Hunting License in the State in which the animal(s) is/are harvested.
  5. A landowner may register his/her hunters for the current season. All hunters will be registered under the landowner’s name or ranch’s name. Animals entered in the contest by the hunter from other ranch names will not be allowed, unless the hunter pays membership fees separately.

  1. Scoring will be done during regular business hours of Primo Processing.
  2. In the event that a harvested animal is in question, Landowners or Biologists may be asked to sign and provide verification that the deer entered in the God’s Country Hunting Contest Deer Contest is a native whitetail deer, was at any time involved in a breeding program, or subsequently released. Winners may be subject to polygraph exam concerning origin of entry.
  3. All entries will be photographed at time of scoring, unless hunter/outfitter provides picture. Pictures should be taken with consideration given to the general public and non-hunters as potential viewers. Care should be taken in positioning and posing of game to preserve the nature of the game.
  4. All scoresheets and photographs of registered entries and their animal become property of God’s Country Hunting Contest and may be used for future promotions and/or advertisements.
  5. Score systems used:
    • Whitetail with firearm: Boone & Crockett
    • Whitetail with archery: Pope & Young
    • Exotics: Record of Exotics

  1. At the end of the contest, all hunters will be declared winners once all scoresheets and categories have been reviewed and finalized. An announcement will be made via website/social media that the contest has been finalized and awards will be presented at the Annual Mumme’s Wildlife Pachanga.
  2. God’s Country Hunting Contest reserves the right to substitute prizes of equal or greater value.
  3. All shipping costs will be paid by the winner in the event that they cannot attend the Annual Mumme’s Wildlife Pachanga Awards Ceremony.
    • WE STRONGLY ENCOURAGE ALL WINNERS TO ATTEND THE AWARDS BANQUET OR HAVE SOMEONE ACCEPT THEAWARD ON THEIR BEHALF.
    • Winners have 180 days from the date of the Awards Banquet to pick up or request the shipping of their prizes, at the winner’s expense.
    • Division winners receiving “Premium Prizes” will have 60 days following awards presentation to visit Mumme’s in Hondo for sizing.

  1. Points = a minimum of one inch (1”) in length, as stated in the Texas Parks & Wildlife Outdoor Annual publication.
  2. The spread is determined by measuring the inside width of the main beams.
  3. Every animal must be field dressed (no liver, heart, etc.) for weight categories.
  4. All animals considered for weight divisions must be weighed on the Primo’s Processing Scale. NO EXCEPTIONS.
  5. Skull mounts are not accepted – cape must be intact on head.
  6. In the event of a tie, the deer with the larger Gross Score will win 1st Place; the other will take 2nd Place, if applicable.
  7. For the Pope & Young Division, deer must be harvested with compound bows or re-curve bows. Any deer harvested with a cross bow will be placed in the other rifle divisions.
  8. For the Pope & Young Division, any deer harvested in October will only be eligible for entire season until end of MLDP season.
  9. Best 6- & 8-Point Categories in each Division is defined by total points. Deer totaling 6 & 8 points, whether typical frame or with abnormal points, will be considered for this category.
  10. Open Division is for tagged/penned deer only –   involved in a scientific breeding program, has a TPWD permit, or has a tag hole or state ID tattoo. Trapped, scientific/breeder, or tagged bucks will be eligible for the Open division only. Out-of-state whitetail deer will be entered in the Open Division.
  11. Contestants and general public can visit Mumme’s (Hondo) and Primo’s Processing on a weekly basis to view the updated pictures of each category on the Leader Board.
